Senior Designer, Microsoft

Microsoft has started a new design group in Kendal Square. We are very interested in finding design talent in the Boston area
This job description is for a more senior person. But we would be happy to look at more junior candidates especially as interns if they have a strong interest in consumer facing products and the love of fast moving pace with lots of ideas.
This will be a tremendous opportunity for a candidate for they will work on lots of little start-ups, use their skills in user centered design and see if their products really work!
User Interface Design
As a key member of the Boston Concept Development group in the CSA division, we are focused on rapidly developing and launching many businesses that will use the market place to gain rapid consumer feedback. Our project portfolio will include a diverse set of highly strategic projects that will solve market needs. We will tackle many industries including social media, healthcare, advertising and mobile. The Senior User Experience Design role will provide strategic value to the team’s initiatives, helping to drive a user-centric interaction design strategy across the project initiative. On our team, UX will be involved and integral throughout the project lifecycle - from conception to completion. Candidates should have a talent for designing rich, visual user-interaction solutions across a range of platforms and solutions.
Responsibilities
-Help define, and own UX design deliverables across project initiatives (inlc. ideation, user-flow analysis, wire-framing, interaction design, visual design, branding and execution)
-Facilitate early ideation sessions with brainstorming, storyboarding, rapid prototyping
-Help develop and manage UX project schedules
-Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members/leads to evaluate and extend project proposals and early concept development
-Strong User Centered Design experience and be able to lead customer focus groups and usability and translate them back to the product design.

Qualifications
-7+ years experience developing world-class, forward-thinking user experience solutions
ability to drive results across multi-disciplinary groups including engineering, design, user research, marketing, planning and business strategy
-Proven track-record of hands-on interaction and visual design leadership
-Expert level proficiency with common design tools (Illustrator, Photoshop, Fireworks)
-Strong design sensibilities and attention to detail required
BS/BA or Masters Degree in Interactive Media-, Graphic-, Human Factors Bachelors or research related field including interaction design, industrial design, graphic design, HCI, cognitive psychology, experimental psychology, human factors or other related field

User Experience Designer

Reports to Creative Director, Creative Services.

The user interface designer architects, designs, produces, and tests userinterface concepts and initiatives, serving multiple internal and external
customers in a fast-paced, evolving company.

Personally, s/he will be easily liked and respected with a natural warmth and sense of humor that invites interaction. S/he will exhibit the integrity and values that are the extension of those of the company: accessible, credible, team-oriented, organized, energetic, service and customer driven.

S/he will provide leadership by establishing quality standards and best practices for web-based application user experience and interface design. Must be willing and able to mentor and support both creative and engineering team members, and drive a user experience-driven application design process.

This position requires both the ability to design as well as architect, plan, usability test, and hands-on produce web-based interface solutions. The candidate should enjoy the full lifecycle process for all of these elements of UI development.

  • Hands-on, advanced CSS, XHTML, DHTML, and JavaScript skills
  • Experience using Visio and Photoshop to create flow charts, interface mockups and designs
  • Demonstrated experience with wireframing and rapid prototype design
  • Experience with use case analysis and
    component-actor-action-response modeling
  • 6+ years as an interactive designer for e-commerce/web applications/desktop software.
  • Ability to design/create/optimize graphical assets, typography, and layout

    Software Interaction Designer

    Customer Experience Designer

    Seeking a talented individual to fill this newly created position within our Customer Experience and Design group.
    Responsibilities:
    - Usability and user experience, Information architecture, taxonomy creation & Human factors
    Working closely with a cross-functional team, the Customer Experience Designer will define and create site structure, interaction flows, page wireframes, prototypes and interface requirements that promote ease of use and a positive user experience.
    - Collaborate with product managers and engineering to conceptualize and develop new products and site features. Ensure sitemap, flow diagrams and wireframes are properly translated to the live site.
    Work with web designers to ensure the graphic design is consistent with the UI requirements and usability best practices.
    Play a key role in developing our customer experience function, including usability testing, concept testing, surveys, interviews and card sorts.

    interfaces for our first application. We strongly believe in simple,
    user-centric design – so much so that it is the key feature of our product.
    You will be a part of a team that uses cutting edge technologies and

    looking for innovative thinkers who can work independently and who will
    report to the VP of Products and Design (yes, we have a VP of Design!). You
