Information Architect / User Experience Designer

At Interactive Factory, you will join a team of talented experts in web design, development and project management. You will work on projects for clients across a variety of industries including publishing, higher education, non-profit and healthcare.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work collaboratively to translate business requirements, user goals and creative strategy into engaging experiences.
• Create and refine content inventories, user flows, use cases, personas, site maps, wireframes and other interaction design specifications.
• Work closely with development team to ensure that technology supports the proposed solutions.
• Build interactive prototypes.
• Observe, conduct and analyze qualitative and quantitative user research, such as focus groups, interviews and surveys.
• Prepare and conduct usability tests.
• Present findings and recommendations from user research and usability tests.
• Work effectively with project managers to meet expectations on time and on budget.
• Design screen concepts focusing on interface design.

SKILLS
• Ability to think creatively and analytically.
• Uncompromising attention to detail.
• Proficiency with standard software tools for flowcharts, wireframes and prototypes.
• Ability to hand-code CSS and XHTML.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to articulate and present ideas based on sound user experience and interaction design principles.
• Comfortable interacting directly with clients.
• Able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Basic understanding of XML, database-driven and CMS-driven websites.


• Team oriented, self-motivated.
Nice to Have
• Understanding of W3C and 508 accessibility guidelines.
• Experience with publishing and higher education clients/projects.
• Excellent understanding of composition, color, imagery and typography.
• Working knowledge of JavaScript, PHP, AJAX and Flash.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• 3+ years’ experience as an information architect (IA), user experience designer (UXD), interaction designer (IxD) or UI designer, preferably in an interactive agency environment.
• Degree in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Interaction Design, Information Architecture, Digital Media, Communication Design or related field.
• Demonstrable past experience developing site maps, wireframes and other information architecture deliverables.

We are currently in search of an Information Architect to hire on a contract basis.​ The primary responsibility of the Information Architect (IA) contractor is to collaborate with the web design team to lead a website reorganization project.​ The IA should work in conjunction with the design team and stakeholders to arrive at a final site architecture and design that satisfies the expectations for utility and ease of use, while supporting associated business requirements and goals.​

The candidate for this position has the ability to assist in planning and leading the IA component of large complex client engagements.​ The candidate must have prior lead experience, and experience interfacing with clients.​ The ideal candidate will be able and willing to do "hands on" IA tasks.​

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead discovery research activities including current state assessments, competitive reviews, online card sorting and usability tests.​ Analyze results and generate full reports indicating key findings and recommendations.​

· Provide input on plans and schedules for design activities to ensure efficient completion and on-time delivery.​

· Document design intent clearly by developing site maps, wireframes, interaction flow diagrams, with appropriate functional and behavioral annotations.​

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams consisting of business teams, developers, and creative designers to ensure the development solutions that balance form, function, and feasibility.​ Apply problem-solving and creative skills to solving business problems.​

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 5+​ years experience working as an information architect, interaction designer, or user experience designer
  • 3+​ years experience with usability testing including preparation, execution and analysis
  • Experience with re-designing information architecture of large websites

· Knowledge of industry best practices and standards

· Strong oral and written communication skills

· Excellent analytic and problem solving skills

· Can work effectively as a member of a project team

· Positive, can-do attitude and flexibility to adjust approach as needed to meet scope and timelines

User Interaction Designer; Salem, NH; SunGard - Loanet; Fulltime

Position Responsibilities

• Craft highly usable web page/site layouts, templates, and content elements, in order to maximize site performance and to ensure optimal user experiences.
• Provide intuitive interface/interaction requirements and visual solutions.
• Understand user centered design processes, standards, and best practices.
• Deliver/articulate data-driven design and layout ideas through mockups, wireframes and prototypes for proof-of-concept, discussion and usability testing.

Position Requirements

• Degree or certificate in Graphic Design, Human Factors, Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction or equivalent work experience.
• Min 2-5 yrs combined experience in visual design, communications, computer interaction, marketing, or related fields required with 2+ yrs experience creating visual designs and interaction designs for Web applications desired.
• Experience in the financial service industry.
• Understanding of Web technologies and their usability implications.
• Strong interface/interaction design and graphic design skills and ability to advise/direct internal and external design resources to achieve desired outcomes.
• Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite 2 or 3 for the creation of visual design deliverables.
• Familiarity with Web 2.0 and 3.0 technologies and their implications on user experience.
• Familiarity with Windows client interfaces.
• Ability to strongly advocate for the user during all phases of the design process.
• Understanding of Web usability and accessibility standards and best practices.
• Ability to advise/train others in web-related skills.
• Good understanding of user-centered web development with experience developing applications or web sites.
• Experience creating and documenting storyboards, wireframes, and page layouts.
• Solid understanding of user-centric design principles and interaction design best practices.

Sr. Information Architect - One to One Interactive Boston, MA (Fulltime)

The primary responsibility of the IA is to assure that a web site or application satisfies the expectations for utility and ease of use, while supporting associated business requirements and goals.

. Provide input on plans and schedules for design activities to ensure efficient completion and on-time delivery. Assist in new business development when required.
. Thrive in a fast-paced environment. Be a key team member and participate in the continued evolution and improvement of the interaction design process.

Discipline Specific Skills:
. At least 4 -5 years experience in interactive marketing/web design required
. Prototyping skills with tools such as Axure, I-Rise, or Flash are very helpful.
. Strong oral and written communication skills; good analytic and problem solving skills; an understanding of user-centered design principles; knowledge of industry best practices and standards; and a professional communicator inside and outside the design team
. Can work effectively as a member of a project team.
