Senior Interaction Designer at Thomson Reuters

The User Experience group at Thomson Reuters is seeking an Interaction Designer (Contract) to join our team. We are professionals who all work in specific capacities including: IA/UX, strategy, creative, design technology, production and project management. As a strategic part of Thomson Reuters Financial we focus on creating and delivering a consistent and compelling user experience across our entire product suite. The ideal candidate will be someone who thrives in a fast paced environment, works well both individually and as part of a team, and is highly results-driven.
Responsibilities:
• Create storyboards, personas, flow charts, sketches, detailed and comprehensive wireframes and other documents that effectively communicate the information design and interaction design.
• Understand customer needs, as well as business and functional requirements and translate them into intuitive interface solutions.
• Recommend design and implementation ideas from a user-centered perspective.
• Participate in user research/usability testing (as needed or appropriate).
• Collaborate with business analysts, visual design team and project managers.
• Participate in formal and informal design critiques.
Required skills and Education:
• 5 + years of experience in UX design and related disciplines.
• Passionate, motivated, curious.
• Meticulous attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
• Solid understanding of the fundamentals of user interface design; should have experience working through the entire product life cycle and be familiar with user-centered design methods. Knowledgeable of best practices of major websites, RIAs and desktop applications.
• Clear, organized writing, communication and presentation skills.
• Confident and capable of juggling multiple projects simultaneously and under tight deadlines. Must be able to work independently.
• Comfortable defending concepts and negotiating successful compromises between multiple project stakeholders.
• Understanding of the capabilities and limitations of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, Flash, .Net and WPF and other programming technologies.
• Solid proficiency with Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Human Computer Interaction, Design or related field.
• Work experience in the Financial Services Industry a plus.
